Venue Hunt: Singapore Hotels

Hotels. The standard wedding venue in Singapore. Initially very reluctant to pay the high prices associated with using hotels, but in the end, considered that hotels do brisk business in holding weddings because heck, they know what they're doing. Peace of mind is priceless, right?

Then again, a bit of shopping around and 'site visit' necessary, since by meeting directly with the hotel personels, some of them readily threw in perks! It's kind of fun too.. Opportunity to drink copious amounts of tea and eat cookies for free ;p

Here are some hotels I've visited and pictures of their ballroom.

1. Furama Riverfront
My favorite so far because of their attractive pricing.. and lots of perks! Based on what I read on the internet, Furama managers are generous with the extras, and true enoughthe manager I met with offered the perks without even being asked haha... Told him how I see the wedding proceeding from the church wedding in the morning to the reception, and my problems e.g. 4 hours might not be enough to also do tea ceremony after the reception, want to bring in own snacks from Indonesia etc. He right away offered things like free use of function room for tea ceremony, waive corkage duty of wine (not mentioned in the package),etc (Can't say to much haha..) Also, Kintamani Indonesian Restaurant is attached to the hotel and since I really wish to have Indonesian food at the reception, he readily agreed to substitute some items in the international buffet menu into Indonesian ones.

Two huge drawback though.. for the Mercury room that comes with a great view, the ceiling is low making the room feel a bit cramped. Also there are two BIG pillars in the room blocking views of some guests. Still thinking how best to resolve this if we do take Furama.

Quite grand entrance into the waterfall lounge

However, they do have another ballroom, the Venus ballrom, which feels super spacious and nice.. Still thinking if I should take this..since it'll be another cooped up ballroom reception, and I do want an intimate affair.

 2. Riverview Hotel
They have one of the cheapest package in town! The manager also offered me free use of the Camelia room adjacent to the ballroom after reception, for tea ceremony. However the ballroom is funnily shaped with some slanted walls, and feels old.

 3. MEGU Event Hall
Perhaps the most comprehensive, affordable package I came across. You can see their package here .
Find the wedding packages at the bottom of the site. Really considering it.. free flow of beer & free bottle of wine per table, at only $68++! The scenery is also nice, a view of Marina bay. One big downside though, the hall is so full of pillars >< Since performances / stage events will be an important part of our wedding, I don't think this hall will be feasible for it.

4. Holiday Inn
Went to this one just because it's around the Furama - Riverview area. Gotta say, the moment I went into the hotel, the architecturally stunning atrium is really a sight to behold.. The ballrooms looks okay, also normal with no scenery but some pillars along the perimeter.

  1. These are some really great wedding venues. If I were to be wed in Singapore, I would consider one of these venues for my wedding. I will be getting married right here in the United States though, and I have a couple of ideas for the wedding.
